School Log Books Project "School and Community"

Support for volunteers using Microsoft Excel with the School Log Book Project

We have produced three ten minute video tutorials to help you get started.

More extensive help is provided in the Excel Project User Manual that is available as a download to all registered volunteers from the Project Workspace. Help is also available within the Project Workspace and Project Forum.

All videos have a narration, please ensure your computer speakers or your headset are turned on.

Video 1: An introduction to the Excel Spreadsheet. This video explains how the spreadsheet has been put together and the rationale that makes it easy to use. The video explains the purpose of the various parts of the spreadsheet enabling volunteers to make a quick start. Video 1
Video 2: An introduction to the transcription process: This video demonstrates how to work with the spreadsheet and enter a transcription of a log book entry, noting its source and date. Video 2
Video 3: An introduction to the data extraction process: This video demonstrates how to assess the log book entry and to extract and record the required information that the project seeks. Video 3
