- The Electoral Register Issue:
The UK Government are considering changes to the availability of the
Edited version of the Electoral Register. Many family historians and
genealogists use the Edited version of the Electoral Register to search
for living extend family and some of the proposed changes, if
successful, will withdraw the Edited version of the Electoral Register
from public use. Embedded in a government consultation paper is a
government questionnaire and FACHRS have reproduced the questionnaire
online so that all our members may have an opportunity to submit a

- Railway Station Masters mini
project: A new mini project investigating
the careers of individuals who were identified as railway station
masters in the 1881 census. Was this careers continuing a family
tradition, did the children of these persons seek employment in the
railway industry?

- Dr. Sue Smith
is the new Secretary of
FACHRS. At the 4 April 2009 Committee Meeting Dr. Sue Smith was elected
by the committee to Honorary Secretary of FACHRS. This role also carries
the responsibility of Company Secretary and Director Trustee of FACHRS
Limited.
- Michael Kemp is the new Fund Raising
Officer for FACHRS. At the 4 April 2009 Committee Meeting Michael Kemp
was elected by the committee to the new role of Fund Raising Officer.
This role also carries the responsibility of Director Trustee of FACHRS
Limited
- Brita Wood is appointed Director Trustee
of FACHRS Ltd. At the 4 April 2009 Committee Meeting Brita Wood in her
capacity as Membership Secretary was confirmed as a Director Trustee of
FACHRS Limited
- Bye Laws introduced. At the Directors and
Trustees Meeting on the 4 April 2009, new Bye Laws were introduced to
replace the former (defunct) Constitution. With the adoption of revised
Memorandum and Articles of Association for the Charitable Company FACHRS
Limited, parts of the Constitution, drafted when FACHRS was first
formed, are now incorporated within the revised Memorandum and
Articles of Association. Those parts of the former Constitution that
remained have been updated and published as Bye Laws. Members may view
the bye laws in the Members' Community within the Committee Section.

that the next major project will be an investigation into the linkage
between local schools and their community using School Log Books

is presented on-line by the VISUAL
ARTS DATA SERVICE London College of Fashion Collection is accessible and
searchable via the VADS website. The collection, which was digitised as part of the
JISC Image Digitisation Initiative (JIDI) consists of over 1000 black & white and
sepia photographs.

THE
BRITISH UNIVERSITIES NEWSREEL PROJECT DATABASE
The British Universities
Newsreel Project website is the first centralised record of British newsreel releases. It
will become a major historical resource for students, historians and film researchers, and
will help secure the newsreels¹ place as a treasure trove of the twentieth century.

University of Birmingham, and Stephen Roberts, History of Parliament, to provide a
calendar of all items in the Birmingham Reference Library's collection of the official
papers of the Lord Keeper Thomas Coventry
