Individual members of the Society receive the Journal as part of their FACHRS membership subscription. The initial focus of the Journal is on the United Kingdom & Ireland, and on the 18^th to 20^th centuries, but the journal will also publish articles on other geographic areas or periods where they make a clear comparative or methodical contribution.

The Journal aims to promote & communicate research in family and community history within a scholarly framework and to encourage links between institutionally based and independent researchers.

A project is currently underway to have online digital versions of past editions of the Journal available to members.

The Journal is published for FACHRS by Maney Publishing and may be purchased by institutions direct from the Maney Publishing website.
