What is the purpose of FACHRS and who can join?

bulletto advance the education of the public in the subject of Family and Community Historical Research through support to individuals in opportunities to engage in historical research at community level
bulletto advance education through the provision of appropriate training in research sources and methods
bulletto advance education through the publication of a peer reviewed journal focused on Family and Community Historical Research, the publication of a Society newsletter and through an internet website
bulletto advance education by the establishment and maintenance of a document archive
 

To promote and communicate research in family & community history within a scholarly framework, with particular emphasis on the contribution of locally based and micro studies to the understanding of the wider picture (and vice versa). The Family and Community Historical Research Society (Society), will work toward attaining these aims by such means as providing a framework for discussion and support for the Society's members, publishing a journal & newsletter for the Society's members, promoting links between institutional and independent researchers, and encouraging activities and interaction at both a national and a regional level.

Membership

Membership of the Society shall be open to all those with an interest in the pursuit of family and community history in a scholarly framework and who have paid the due subscription. No formal qualification is required. Members of FACHRS have access to the Members Community that offers additional benefits for members engaged in practical research. Apply to join.
