British Battalions on the Somme (Reviewed by Keith Ebsworth) will be of interest to anyone researching communities or families, for with 419,000 British killed, every family and community in Britain were affected. The book covers the period from 1 July to 18 November, 1916 and lists the 616 infantry battalions involved during this time. Each chapter deals with an individual regiment and then gives information on each battalion’s movements. Some of which is detailed down to trench information. A map of the battle area is included and there are several photographs.
